MAKING ENOCH ARDEN

Duration - 7mins

BRISBANE MUSIC FESTIVAL & VICTORIAN THEATRE COMPANY

2021 - Short Documentary Series

SYNOPSIS
Two creative battle cold winds, oceans and fish tanks to film the visual composition for Victorian Theatre Company & Brisbane Music Festivals feature project, Enoch Arden.

ABOUT

"Strauss’ musical melodrama collides with the sweeping poetry of Alfred Lord Tennyson to tell the story of Enoch Arden, a lost sailor navigating his way home. Australian filmmaker Jak Scanlon’s captivating visual tapestry adds further dimension to this incredible work." - Brisbane Music Festival

Filmed in 2021, Enoch Arden was a project originally planned to be performed live in QLD as part of the Brisbane Music festivals 2020 season. Due to travel constraints and the lockdown of many states, the project was instead transformed into a feature length visual composition and performance.

From repeatedly filling a fish tank with water and inks to traveling down the coast of Victoria to Flinders Blowhole at 5am, the team worked hard gathering the various filmed elements of the project (with a few funny accidents and coffee induced sillies along the way)

Donating to a production allows the artist to continue creating and making more productions like the one you just watched!
